The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has launched investigations into a fire outbreak that ravaged parts of Monte Carlo, a popular pub located at Tema Community 10, on Friday morning.
Tema Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, Ebenezer Yenzu, confirmed that firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control after deploying five fire appliances to the scene.
According to fire officials, the GNFS control room received a distress call shortly after 7:00 am reporting a fire outbreak at the facility. A fire tender from the Motorway Fire Station was immediately dispatched, but firefighters requested additional support upon assessing the intensity of the flames.
Two more appliances were later deployed from the Industrial Area and Tema Regional Headquarters, while further reinforcements arrived from the Ashaiman and New Town Fire Stations, bringing the total number of fire units at the scene to five.
Officials said the rapid spread of the fire made containment difficult, forcing firefighters to focus on preventing the flames from spreading to nearby buildings.
The fire was brought under control at about 7:40 am and fully extinguished around 9:34 am.
Authorities confirmed that the Monte Carlo pub suffered extensive damage, while an adjoining restaurant and another restaurant located behind the property were partially affected by the blaze.
Despite the destruction, firefighters managed to salvage two office spaces within the facility, including a safe recovered from the scene.
The GNFS says personnel will remain at the location to secure the area and preserve evidence as investigations begin into the cause of the fire. Officials have also cautioned the public against interfering with the scene.
No casualties were recorded in the incident, according to the fire service.
