Kofi Adams, Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, has announced that the government will sponsor approximately 800 supporters to attend the FIFA World Cup 2026.

According to the Minister, the estimated cost per supporter is $9,250, covering airfare, accommodation, and local transportation throughout the tournament. He explained that the high cost of participation influenced the decision to limit the number of beneficiaries.

Adams noted that while the government will cover major travel expenses, selected supporters will be responsible for their visa fees and feeding costs. He also disclosed that the ministry has rejected proposals from individuals seeking contracts to provide meals for the fans during the tournament.

The decision reflects efforts to manage costs while still ensuring Ghanaian fan representation at the global football event.
