The Government of Ghana has established Thursdays as the official days for receiving financial pledges and providing public updates regarding the fundraising campaign for the Black Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Speaking at a ceremony in Accra, Deputy Minister for Finance Thomas Nyarko Ampem reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency, noting that all donations are deposited directly into the official 2026 World Cup Fundraising Account at the Bank of Ghana. He explained that this structure is designed to ensure accountability and guarantee that all mobilized resources are used exclusively for the national team’s preparations.

Several corporate entities and individuals presented their contributions during the event. KGL Group delivered GHC5 million, fulfilling half of its GHC10 million commitment. Serene Insurance provided GHC2 million in cash alongside a GHC20 million insurance package. Other donations included GHC1 million each from Icon Energy and Jewel Energy, GHC200,000 from Erata Motors, and GHC100,000 from PayAngel. Additionally, Alex Okyere of KAF Company Limited made a personal contribution of GHC240,000.

“We are grateful to all of you for your love for the Black Stars. Even though the first two friendly matches did not go well, we remain optimistic that the team will make us proud at the World Cup,” Mr. Ampem stated.

The fundraising drive was originally launched in March 2026 by President John Dramani Mahama with a target of raising $30 million for the tournament.

“Every Thursday, we will meet here to receive contributions, giving those who are yet to fulfill their pledges the opportunity to do so,” Mr. Ampem said, while encouraging further support from individuals and corporate bodies.
