The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers of its Customs Division with immediate effect over alleged procedural breaches linked to a transit cargo consignment bound for Niger.
In a statement, GRA management said the action follows preliminary findings from an enforcement operation conducted on February 18, 2026. The operation involved transit cargo declared for onward movement to Niger, where discrepancies were detected in documentation and compliance with established customs procedures.

According to the Authority, the irregularities uncovered during the exercise prompted a detailed internal review. Initial assessments point to potential procedural violations that require independent and comprehensive examination.
The GRA noted that the ongoing investigation will determine the full facts surrounding the transaction, including the extent of individual involvement and any departures from established Customs protocols. It added that the scope of the probe may be expanded, and additional officers could be invited to assist where necessary.
Management assured stakeholders and the public that appropriate administrative action will be taken in line with applicable laws and regulations once the investigation is concluded.
The Authority emphasized that the interdictions reflect its commitment to protecting national revenue, promoting accountability, and upholding high standards of professionalism in revenue mobilisation and enforcement.
