The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has visited two tourists who were injured when a portion of the Amedzofe Canopy Walkway in the Ho West District collapsed. The victims, who sustained injuries but no fatalities, are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. The facility has since been closed.
In a statement signed by GTA Corporate Affairs Director , the Authority expressed sympathy and reaffirmed its commitment to the victims’ wellbeing. The GTA said it is closely monitoring investigations into the cause of the collapse and will announce further actions once findings are complete.
During her visit, the CEO donated cash and essential items to support the injured individuals. She emphasised that safety remains a top priority and assured the public that any safety lapses identified will be addressed to protect the integrity of Ghana’s tourism attractions.
