At least seven people have been injured following a shooting incident between residents of Gomoa Oguaakrom and New Winneba in the Central Region, reportedly over a land dispute.

A police officer stationed at the New Winneba Police Station is among those injured in the confrontation.

Reports indicate that some residents of Gomoa Oguaakrom, who claim ownership of land in New Winneba, entered the community early Tuesday and allegedly opened fire. The group reportedly attempted to lock up some shops, prompting resistance from residents and triggering a confrontation that escalated into a gun battle.

Several people sustained injuries during the violence, while some residents reportedly fled the area to escape the gunfire.

Police have since reinforced security in the community to restore calm and prevent further clashes.
