Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has directed newly recruited health professionals posted to health facilities across the country to report to their assigned duty stations by Thursday, August 20, 2026, or risk losing their appointments.
The Minister said the deadline will allow the Ministry of Health to identify vacancies created by recruits who fail to report and replace them through a planned mop-up exercise.
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Coalition of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives on Wednesday, August 12, Mr Akandoh said the government secured financial clearance before beginning the recruitment exercise to prevent the accumulation of salary arrears.
He said recruits who reported early have already started receiving their salaries, adding that the Ministry would not keep vacant positions open indefinitely for those who fail to take up their postings.
Newly recruited health professionals who do not report by the August 20 deadline could therefore forfeit their appointments and be replaced during the mop-up exercise.
