The Ministry of Health has announced plans to investigate allegations contained in an investigative report by The Fourth Estate concerning the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, commonly known as Ridge Hospital.

In a press release, the Ministry said it had taken note of the report, which has attracted significant public attention, and expressed sympathy for patients and relatives who may have suffered unprofessional treatment at health facilities. It reaffirmed government’s commitment to reducing the stress and financial burden faced by patients in accessing healthcare.

The Ministry said it was deeply concerned by some of the findings in the report and considers the issues raised serious enough to warrant a thorough examination. It has therefore begun processes to constitute an investigative committee to look into the matter.

According to the Ministry, the committee will be required to submit its findings within 14 working days. The Ministry also called on all relevant stakeholders, including The Fourth Estate, to cooperate fully with the investigation to help establish the facts, ensure accountability and improve service delivery within the health system.
