Ghanaian football giant Hearts of Oak has appointed former Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Kingson as the club’s new goalkeepers’ coach on a two-year contract.
The Phobians confirmed the appointment of the 48-year-old, who will work alongside newly appointed Serbian head coach Nebojsa Kapor as the squad prepares for the upcoming season.
The move marks a return to Hearts of Oak for the former Ghana international, who launched his career with the club before moving to Europe, where he played for clubs in Turkey, Sweden, England, and Cyprus.
Kingson earned over 90 caps for the Ghana national team and represented the Black Stars at both the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups, playing a pivotal role in their historic run to the quarter-finals in South Africa. He also featured in multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
Following his active playing career, Kingson served as the goalkeepers’ coach for the Ghana national team, first taking up the role in 2017 before returning for a second spell in 2021.
