Ghana international Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has expressed relief and renewed determination after completing a move to VfL Osnabrück following a prolonged period sidelined by injuries in the Bundesliga.
The 28-year-old midfielder experienced a challenging spell at SC Freiburg, where a severe anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and subsequent complications restricted his appearances on the pitch.
Reflecting on his recovery process, Kyereh told the club’s official media that his confidence remained intact throughout the rehabilitation period.
“The past few years have been a very difficult time for me. But I never lost faith in my ability to return to the pitch.”
The transfer to VfL Osnabrück reunites the Black Stars midfielder with head coach Timo Schultz, under whom Kyereh previously played at FC St. Pauli prior to his move to Freiburg and his integration into the Ghanaian national team.
Kyereh noted that resuming his working relationship with Schultz will assist him in regaining his form.
“I know Timo from our successful time together at FC St. Pauli and I know how he wants his team to play football… and gradually getting back to my best level.”
With his transition to Osnabrück complete, Kyereh aims to establish regular playing time, return to peak fitness, and position himself for a potential recall to the Ghana national team.
