The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Referees Committee has selected Congolese official Jean-Jacques Ndala to lead the officiating team for the first leg of the 2026 CAF Champions League final.
Ndala, who recently handled the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, is set to oversee the opening match between South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and FAR Rabat of Morocco. The fixture is scheduled for May 17 in Pretoria.
Despite facing significant scrutiny and being described as “controversial” following his performance in the AFCON final, Ndala maintains his status as one of CAF’s top-rated officials.
CAF also announced that Somali referee Omar Artan has been appointed to officiate the second leg of the final. That deciding match will be held on May 24 in Rabat, Morocco.
