President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled plans to upgrade several senior high schools (SHSs) across the country to improve access and reduce congestion.

Speaking during the 2026 State of the Nation Address in Parliament, he disclosed that 30 Category C secondary schools will be upgraded to Category B status, while 10 Category B schools will be elevated to Category A. Facilities in existing Category A schools will also be expanded to accommodate more students.

The President said the reforms are aimed at ensuring parity in educational opportunities and strengthening infrastructure at the secondary level nationwide.
