President John Dramani Mahama is set to engage global political and business leaders at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, where he will lead discussions on the Accra Reset initiative at a high-level side event on Thursday, January 22.

The meeting marks the first Davos convening of the Global South–led Accra Reset, an initiative chaired by President Mahama and aimed at strengthening sovereign capacity and reimagining international cooperation amid growing global uncertainty.

According to a statement from Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the event will bring together members of the Presidential Council, including Presidents Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, William Ruto of Kenya, and Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Nigeria will be represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, while Papua New Guinea will be represented by Prime Minister James Marape.

Former leaders, including Olusegun Obasanjo, Helen Clark, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, will also participate as members of the Guardians Circle of the Accra Reset.

The Davos meeting will formally launch priority programmes under the initiative, following its introduction at the 2025 UN General Assembly and endorsement at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg.

The Accra Reset seeks to address challenges arising from global power rivalries, weakening aid frameworks, trade tensions, and multiple crises such as climate shocks, rising living costs, pandemics, and conflicts. President Mahama has positioned the initiative as complementary to his domestic Resetting Ghana Agenda, emphasizing the need for a fairer and more balanced international system to support national development.
