President John Dramani Mahama has nominated five individuals to serve on Ghana’s Fiscal Council in accordance with the Public Financial Management (Amendment) Act, 2025, aimed at strengthening fiscal discipline and oversight.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson. The nominees include Dr. Emmanuel Oteng Kumah as Chairperson, Prof. Patrick Opoku Asuming representing academia, Leslie Dwight Mensah from a research think tank, J. Kweku Bedu-Addo, a former Ministry of Finance policy expert, and Dr. Henry Akpenamawu Kofi Wampah, a former official of the Bank of Ghana.

The Fiscal Council is expected to enhance transparency, guide economic policy decisions, and promote prudent management of public finances, reflecting the government’s commitment to stronger financial governance.
