President John Mahama has visited the 37 Military Hospital in Accra to receive updates on the tragic stampede that occurred during a Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise at the El-Wak Sports Stadium on Wednesday, November 12.

The President, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, was accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, the acting Defence Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, and other government officials.
The visit comes in the wake of the death of six job seekers following the incident. According to the Military, 28 people were transported to the hospital for treatment. Six were pronounced dead on arrival, while five remain in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 12 others are in critical condition.
Hospital authorities say medical teams are working around the clock to stabilize the injured as investigations continue into the cause of the stampede.
