A 35-year-old self-acclaimed businessman, Daniel Koranteng, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court accused of robbing a civil servant of her Samsung Fold 4 smartphone valued at GH¢18,000 at Tse-Addo.
Koranteng and an accomplice, who is currently at large, have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and robbery. The accused pleaded not guilty when the case was called before Mrs. Susana Eduful. He was granted bail of GH¢100,000, and the matter was adjourned to 28 January 2026.
The prosecution told the court that on 14 October 2025, Koranteng and his accomplice, driving a rented army green Toyota Highlander 4×4 with its registration number removed, stopped the complainant, Portia Amoah, under the pretext of asking for directions. Koranteng allegedly pulled out a shotgun, ordered her to unlock her phone, and seized it before fleeing the scene.
It was further revealed that the duo had robbed another victim on the same day at Spintex, but were pursued to Nungua Cocon Street, where they crashed the vehicle into a school building. Koranteng was apprehended by a mob and later taken into police custody, while his accomplice escaped.
The complainant identified Koranteng from videos of the incident that went viral and reported him to the Teshie Rasta Police Post. During police interrogation, Koranteng denied committing the offences. The police are still pursuing his accomplice to recover the stolen property.
