Mfantsipim School has won the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), successfully defending its title and securing its fourth national trophy.
The grand finale, held at the University of Cape Coast’s NEC Auditorium, featured Mfantsipim School, St Augustine’s College and Opoku Ware School. The contest, described as a meeting of three of Ghana’s most accomplished schools, drew a large and enthusiastic audience.
Mfantsipim started strongly, leading the first round with 20 points, ahead of St Augustine’s College and Opoku Ware School, who each scored 17 points.
In the second round, St Augustine’s College moved into the lead with 27 points, followed by Mfantsipim with 24 points, while Opoku Ware remained at 17 points.
Mfantsipim regained their advantage during the Problem of the Day, scoring 30 points to edge St Augustine’s College, which scored 29. Opoku Ware School secured 19 points.
By the end of the fourth round, Mfantsipim had extended their lead to 46 points, ahead of St Augustine’s College with 42 points and Opoku Ware School with 29 points.
The defending champions maintained their composure in the final round and finished with 56 points to secure the title. St Augustine’s College placed second with 42 points, and Opoku Ware School came third with 29 points.
The victory gives Mfantsipim School consecutive NSMQ titles and strengthens their record as one of the competition’s leading performers.
