The Minority in Parliament has called on the government to publish a detailed breakdown of the reported GH¢10.92 billion spent on the Accra-Kumasi Expressway project, citing concerns over the scale of the expenditure.

The demand follows figures contained in the 2025 Audited Annual Whole of Government Accounts, which show that GH¢10.92 billion was allocated under the government’s Priority Programmes for the project. Akim Swedru MP Kennedy Osei Nyarko questioned the expenditure, noting that as of June 25, 2026, only 89.5 kilometres, representing 50.9% of the proposed right-of-way, had been cleared by the Ghana Armed Forces.

In a statement issued on July 16, the Minority urged the Ministries of Roads and Highways and Finance, along with all implementing agencies, to release a comprehensive report detailing how the funds were used. The group argued that greater transparency and accountability are essential to maintaining public confidence in the management of taxpayer-funded infrastructure projects.
