MobileMoney Fintech LTD has placed several mobile money agent accounts under restriction as part of intensified compliance checks across its network. The move follows the identification of various infractions, leading to warnings, suspensions, and in some cases, permanent terminations.
The company said agents involved in minor breaches are being cautioned, while those found guilty of more serious violations face stricter sanctions, including suspension or removal from the platform. The action forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight and maintain the integrity of the mobile money ecosystem.
Chief Executive Officer Shaibu Haruna stated that the measures are aimed at protecting customers and preserving trust within the agent network, stressing that the exercise is not intended to punish but to ensure adherence to operational guidelines.
The company noted that some affected agents have already been engaged, with certain restrictions lifted as investigations continue. It also urged all agents to comply with regulatory standards, warning that continued breaches could undermine the reliability of the platform.
With over 17 million users, MobileMoney Fintech LTD remains a key player in Ghana’s digital finance sector, providing services such as payments, remittances, savings, loans, and insurance, while working to strengthen financial inclusion nationwide.
