The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested 10 students of Koforidua Technical University for allegedly producing and selling cannabis-infused drinks and ice creams on campus during the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Hall Week celebrations.
The intelligence-led operation led to the arrest of the suspected ringleader, 23-year-old Priscilla Tetteh, along with nine others believed to be part of a network involved in the production, distribution, and sale of the products. The suspects were allegedly caught selling the items to students and event patrons.
NACOC says the sale of food and beverages containing controlled substances is illegal and has warned that offenders will face legal action. The Commission also expressed concern over the growing commercialisation of narcotics among young people and pledged to intensify operations to dismantle drug trafficking networks. Investigations are ongoing, with the suspects remaining in custody pending further legal processes.
