Operatives of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have arrested a senior manager of a manufacturing company for allegedly attempting to smuggle cocaine out of Ghana through the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, is believed to be in charge of production at the company and is alleged to have concealed the cocaine in a consignment of packaged gari intended for export.

The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation at the airport.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attempted shipment and to determine whether other persons are involved in the suspected drug trafficking network.
