The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) says it is working to identify five bodies recovered after Monday’s devastating floods in the Greater Accra Region to determine whether they are among the seven people previously reported missing.

According to Richard Amo Yartey, NADMO’s Director of Inspectorate, the bodies were retrieved from Weija, Ledzokuku and Central Ayawaso on Wednesday, July 1. He said officials are conducting identification procedures before confirming the identities of the deceased.

Mr Amo Yartey explained that the verification process will establish whether the recovered bodies are those of the missing persons or additional flood victims. He assured the public that official updates would be provided once the identification exercise is completed.

The development follows the Interior Minister’s briefing to Parliament that Monday’s floods claimed 12 lives, displaced 38,802 people and affected 7,761 households across 25 communities in 16 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies. Seven people were also reported missing as of Tuesday morning.
