Nottingham Forest have dismissed head coach Sean Dyche following just 114 days in charge, marking another chapter in a chaotic season that has witnessed several managerial shake-ups at the City Ground.
The dismissal comes after Wednesday’s scoreless stalemate with bottom-of-the-table Wolves, a result that leaves Forest sitting merely three points clear of the Premier League drop zone with a dozen matches left to play.
The club released a short statement confirming Dyche’s exit and expressing gratitude to him and his coaching team for their contributions, stating that no additional remarks would be issued.
The 54-year-old Dyche was brought in during October on a contract extending through 2027, taking over from Ange Postecoglou, who had managed only 39 days following his succession of Nuno Espirito Santo. The club is now preparing to name their fourth permanent boss of the 2025-26 season.
At the time of Dyche’s appointment, Forest occupied 18th position, having secured only one victory in eight fixtures. Although his tenure began with a 2-0 loss to Bournemouth, he subsequently guided the team to an improved run of form, claiming four victories and one draw across the following seven league matches to escape the relegation places.
That consistency proved short-lived, however. A run of four consecutive defeats halted their progress, though Forest rallied with a four-game stretch without defeat, featuring a 2-1 triumph at West Ham and a draw with table-toppers Arsenal.
On the European front, there were brighter moments. Forest secured 13th place in the Europa League group phase to advance to the knockout stages, where they will meet Fenerbahce in a two-legged tie for a spot in the round of 16.
In domestic cup competitions, they have been eliminated from both tournaments.
