The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has executed court-authorized search operations at five fuel depots and premises linked to Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs) as part of an investigation into suspected petroleum sector fraud.

The coordinated raids target an alleged scheme involving tax evasion, the falsification of product types during depot transfers, and the under-declaration of petroleum imports. According to the OSP’s official X page, preliminary findings suggest potential collusion between specific BDCs and officials from the National Petroleum Authority, the Ghana Revenue Authority, and the National Security Secretariat. Intermediaries are also suspected of facilitating illicit financial transfers.

The five entities currently under investigation are Platon Oil and Gas Ltd, Sentuo Oil, Akwaaba Oil, Sahara Oil and Gas Ltd, and Chase Petroleum Gh. Ltd.

The OSP confirmed that the searches resulted in the seizure of documents and electronic materials. Additionally, the anti-corruption body disclosed that several persons of interest have been taken into custody.

The OSP stated that the inquiry is still active and promised to provide updates as the situation progresses.

“The investigation remains ongoing. Further updates will follow,” the OSP said in a post on its official X page.
