The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old robbery suspect following a machete attack on a man at Asabi in the Asokore Mampong Municipality. The arrest was made after a swift response by a police night patrol team, which tracked down the suspect after he allegedly fled and hid in an uncompleted building.

Police identified the suspect as Ahmed Mustapha and said a search led to the recovery of the victim’s stolen mobile phone and a machete believed to have been used in the attack. Both items have been retained as exhibits as investigations continue.

The victim, who sustained machete wounds to the forehead, neck and left hand, was rushed to the KNUST Hospital for treatment. Police said he has since regained consciousness and is in stable condition, while the suspect remains in custody assisting with investigations.
