The Ghana Police Service has arrested 93 suspects during a series of intelligence-led anti-drug operations across Kumasi, its suburbs and the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
The operations, conducted between July 15 and 24, targeted suspected drug trafficking hubs and criminal hideouts as part of efforts to combat illicit narcotics, dismantle organised criminal networks and improve public safety. Those arrested include 58 men and 35 women, comprising 65 Ghanaians and 28 Nigerian nationals.
Police also recovered 40 one-kilogram parcels of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs, quantities of Tramadol, ecstasy, suspected cocaine, dried leaves believed to be narcotics, narcotic-infused products, drug-processing materials, an unregistered motorcycle and expired pharmaceutical products.
Investigators further uncovered suspected commercial sexual exploitation activities at one of the locations, with enquiries underway to establish possible links to organised exploitation networks, human trafficking and immigration-related offences. All 93 suspects remain in police custody as investigations and legal processes continue.
