The Oti Regional Police Command has intercepted 4,000 parcels of suspected narcotics concealed in a long trailer at Dambai in the Oti Region.

The operation, carried out on February 10, 2026, followed intelligence gathered by the police. Officers stopped and searched a DAF long trailer with registration number GW 1943-09, which initially appeared to be empty.

However, a detailed inspection revealed that the truck had been modified with secret compartments sealed with metal plates beneath the trailer. The hidden sections were opened in the presence of the suspect, Amidu Jubril, aged 40.

Police discovered 4,000 parcels of compressed dried leaf substances wrapped in yellow masking tape, believed to be narcotics.

The truck has been impounded, while the exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes. The suspect is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.

The Oti Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to intensifying efforts against drug trafficking and related criminal activities in the region.
