The Ghana Police Service has intercepted 1,054 vehicles in the Greater Accra Region during an ongoing nationwide road traffic enforcement exercise targeting the unauthorised use of sirens, horns, strobe lights, beacon lights and illegal vehicle modifications. The operation is aimed at enforcing road traffic regulations, promoting discipline on the roads and improving public safety.
Drivers found in violation of the law were educated on the relevant road traffic regulations, while unauthorised emergency equipment and illegal modifications installed on their vehicles were removed and seized for further action. The exercise forms part of the Police Service’s broader efforts to ensure compliance with traffic laws.
Since the nationwide enforcement campaign began on June 15, 2026, the Police say a total of 4,627 vehicles have been intercepted across the country. Authorities have urged motorists to adhere to road traffic regulations and avoid the use of unauthorised emergency devices or illegal vehicle modifications as the operation continues.
