The Bono Regional Police Command has rescued a 30-year-old woman, Millicent Fosua, from suspected kidnappers at Berekum in the Bono Region.

A statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command, said the victim has since been reunited with her family.

It said no arrest has been made yet, and investigations were ongoing.

According to the statement, on October 29, 2025, the complainant, Mr. Samuel Amartey Laryea, and his wife attended a funeral at Kyeremasu in the Dormaa Central Municipality.

However, on November 3, Mr. Laryea received a phone call from an unknown person claiming to have kidnapped his wife and demanding GHC12,000 for her release.

The statement said the complainant sent GHC2,000 via mobile money, but the kidnappers failed to release the victim, prompting him to report the incident to the Police.

It said the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate subsequently launched an intelligence-led operation which led to the rescue of the victim at Berekum.

The statement added that the victim was subjected to physical abuse, verbal threats, and insults by the kidnappers, who also seized her mobile phone and forced her to provide her husband’s mobile number and mobile money PIN code.
