Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has clarified that the Presidency has not yet received a petition seeking the removal of Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa and her two deputies. According to him, such petitions must pass through the Secretary to the President, who has confirmed he has not sighted any document from EC staffer Joseph Blankson Adumadzie, the petitioner.
Hon Kwakye Ofosu assured that once the petition reaches the appropriate office, it will follow the established constitutional procedure, after which the public will be duly informed. He noted that the government is committed to transparency and accountability, stressing that public officials serve in trust and must account for their actions.
He also stated that he is unaware of any other similar petitions but emphasized that if any are received, as in the recent case involving the Chief Justice, the public would be updated. The Government Spokesperson said the administration’s approach is to avoid major decisions appearing suddenly without public context, while still operating strictly within the confines of the law.
