The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has announced plans to initiate legal action to recover approximately $30 million from Indian construction firm JMC Projects over an alleged failure to execute a road contract.
According to the Minister, the contractor received a mobilisation payment as part of a project valued at about $158.6 million but failed to carry out any significant work. He noted that the project was expected to have been completed last year, yet no measurable progress has been made.
Agbodza stated that the Ministry, in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Department, will begin legal proceedings to retrieve the funds, stressing that government will not tolerate breaches that delay critical infrastructure development.
The Minister did not name the specific project but emphasised the need to protect public resources and ensure accountability in the execution of national projects.
