Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has recounted a troubling yet amusing experience from a performance he held in the United States, leaving fans entertained by the unexpected incident.

The rapper explained that the experience occurred after he unknowingly consumed a biscuit infused with marijuana. According to Sarkodie, the incident began when he and his manager, Angel Town, received a hospitality hamper upon arriving at their hotel.

Unaware of its contents, Sarkodie said he ate some biscuits from the hamper out of hunger, not knowing they contained marijuana, a substance he says he had never used before. He noticed something was off when his manager started behaving unusually.

“I got to my hotel they had a hamper for me. And I had no idea what the hamper was. It has drinks, biscuits and everything. I took bites of the biscuits when I was hungry not knowing it had marijuana, and I have not taken marijuana before. Angel finished his and came for more from me,” he said.

The rapper said he became increasingly uneasy backstage, even asking his team unusual questions, including the distance between where he was seated and the main stage. During the performance, he felt the music was moving far slower than normal.

“That’s the worst performance I’ve ever had. Because in my head all the songs sounded slow,” he noted.

Despite his personal discomfort, Sarkodie said fans later assured him that the performance was good, underscoring how artistes can still impress audiences even when they feel dissatisfied with their own performance.

Meanwhile, Sarkodie is preparing for his annual Rapperholic concert, slated for December 25, 2025, at the Grand Arena.
