The government has announced that a state funeral will be held for the late former First Lady, Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.

The ceremony, to be held under the auspices of President John Dramani Mahama, will honour the former First Lady for her significant contributions to women’s and children’s rights and her long-standing commitment to national development.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said the state funeral would celebrate Mrs Rawlings’ decades of public service and her leadership in gender advocacy.

Mrs Rawlings, founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and a prominent advocate for women’s empowerment, passed away on October 23, 2025.

The family has invited the public to submit tributes in her memory ahead of the funeral rites.
