A 16-year-old girl who went missing on Valentine’s Day has been found dead in a stream at Tinkong in the Eastern Region.

The teenager reportedly left home on the evening of February 14 to attend a Valentine’s Day party in the community but never returned, prompting concern among relatives.

Her decomposing body was discovered on Tuesday in a stream near her house, with visible marks that family members say suggest possible foul play. Residents suspect she may have been sexually assaulted before being killed by unknown assailants.

Police from Adawso retrieved the body and conveyed it to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy as investigations begin.

The Assembly Member for Tinkong, Samuel Abochie, described the incident as devastating and called on the police to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
