Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has completed a medical in Saudi Arabia as he nears a transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab.
The 33-year-old Ghana international is expected to join the Riyadh-based side on a one-year contract as a free agent. Following his arrival in Saudi Arabia, Partey underwent medical tests at a local hospital, with final administrative formalities and paperwork currently being completed to finalize the transaction.
The move marks the beginning of a new phase in the midfielder’s career after his departure from Spanish club Villarreal. Partey previously built his career at Atletico Madrid before securing a move to Arsenal, where he established himself as a central figure in midfield over multiple seasons. Following his stint in London, he returned to Spain to play for Villarreal.
On the international stage, Partey represented Ghana at the World Cup, helping the Black Stars advance to the tournament’s knockout rounds for the first time since 2010.
