Two people have lost their lives and four others sustained injuries following a head-on collision between a tipper truck and a Nigerian passenger bus at Abease on the Elubo–Takoradi Highway.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the accident involved a Sinotruck tipper truck and a passenger bus from Lagos, Nigeria. A rescue team from the Elubo Fire Station responded to the scene and rescued trapped occupants, while four injured victims were transported to the Elubo Government Hospital for treatment.
The bus driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the tipper truck’s mate later died at the hospital. Their bodies have been deposited at the hospital morgue.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the crash occurred after the bus driver allegedly swerved to avoid a pothole and collided with the oncoming truck. Firefighters also secured the accident scene by disconnecting the vehicles’ batteries, cooling the truck’s engine compartment, and clearing debris to restore traffic flow.
