Four clubs booked places in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night after a series of decisive second-leg matches across Europe.

At the Wanda Metropolitano, Atlético Madrid recorded a convincing 4–1 victory over Club Brugge KV to complete a 7–4 aggregate win. The Spanish side, led by coach Diego Simeone, controlled the match with an intense and direct approach, using sharp finishing and a well-organised defence to overwhelm the visitors and confirm their progress.

In England, Newcastle United F.C. secured qualification with a 3–2 home win against FK Qarabag, sealing a dominant 9–3 aggregate victory. Although the second leg was closely contested, Newcastle’s strong first-leg advantage meant the tie was largely settled, as the hosts controlled key moments to advance comfortably.

In Germany, Bayer 04 Leverkusen played out a 0–0 draw with Olympiacos F.C., a result that was sufficient to send the Bundesliga side through 2–0 on aggregate. Leverkusen managed the match effectively, showing defensive discipline and tactical control to protect their lead from the first leg.

The night’s biggest upset came in Italy, where FK Bodø/Glimt defeated Inter Milan 2–1 away from home to progress 5–2 on aggregate. Despite Norway’s winter break meaning they have not played a domestic league match since November 30, Bodø/Glimt have played all four of their competitive matches in 2026 in the Champions League, recording wins over Manchester City F.C., Atlético Madrid and Inter twice.

The result ends Inter’s European campaign at the knockout stage, a sharp contrast to last season’s run to the final, while Bodø/Glimt continue a remarkable run into the Round of 16.
