Midfielder Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has declared that Ghana’s Black Queens are fully prepared as they gear up to launch their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign.
The Black Queens are scheduled to face tournament debutants Cape Verde in their opening fixture in Casablanca on Wednesday, July 29, aiming for a strong start. While Cape Verde is competing in the competition for the first time, Ghana is making its 12th WAFCON appearance.
Speaking prior to the clash, Boye-Hlorkah emphasized the squad’s readiness for the upcoming challenge.
“Tomorrow is important. It’s the start of the WAFCON (for us). The girls are ready and excited; we’ve been waiting for it, and we have prepared really well,” she said.
“We had a good time out here last year, so now we are prepared to come back and do our job. We are ready to get going.”
The team will conduct its final training session on Tuesday evening ahead of Wednesday’s match, which is set to kick off at 17:00 GMT.
