A ‘Women in Health’ brunch meeting was organised over the weekend to explore and uncover opportunities for women in the health sector as well as empower them to make a difference in society.
The meeting, held on the theme “Empowering Women in Health: Path to Unlimited Possibilities” was organised by Lamrock Agency in collaboration with the Women’s Wing of the National Physician Assistant Students’ Association of Ghana (PASAG).
Speaking at the brunch meeting, Dr. Keziah Malm, Programme Manager, National Malaria Control Programme, expressed her delight that women in health were converging to discuss issues that would help them flourish.
“Some women continue to make a difference in the healthcare profession while others struggle. It is very important we identify the challenges we face and know how to overcome them, and this can be achieved through capacity building,” she said.
Dr. Malm urged women in the health sector to continue to seek educational excellence as she believes it would open brighter opportunities for them so that they could enjoy certain privileges.
She welcomed the passing of the Affirmative Action Bill, which seeks to provide equal rights and opportunities for women.
Ms. Christele Codo was hopeful that the passage of the Bill would serve as a big motivation for women to strive harder in the health sector, as their effort would certainly be rewarded.
Madam Gladys Akeyere Rockson, Chief Executive Officer, Lamrock Agency, Dr. Maame Afua Kpodo-Tay, and Madam Amanda Kwakye (Physician Assistant) delivered some astounding presentations of how women in health can leverage on the opportunities available to them.
