A teacher and a female student of Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School have both been arrested following a viral video that allegedly captured a physical altercation between them on campus.
The development was confirmed by Daniel Fenyi, Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES). In an updated statement, he disclosed that both individuals are currently undergoing medical examinations to assess any potential harm as investigations continue.
The incident, which occurred in the Ashanti Region, sparked widespread public concern after footage circulated on social media showing the teacher allegedly striking the student and throwing her to the ground while onlookers pleaded for restraint.
Earlier reports indicated that the teacher had been arrested, with the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate launching a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. Authorities have not yet publicly disclosed what triggered the incident.
GES has assured the public that a full report will be submitted to its headquarters once investigations are concluded. The outcome is expected to determine any further disciplinary or legal actions.
The case has reignited conversations about student safety, teacher conduct, and conflict management within educational institutions.
