Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has expressed satisfaction with improvements in food supply to senior high schools across the country.
He noted that, unlike previous years, schools are not experiencing significant food shortages. The Minister attributed the improvement to the government’s decision to decap the Ghana Education Trust Fund, which has strengthened financial support for the Free SHS feeding programme.
According to him, GETFund, working with the Ghana Commodity Exchange and Buffer Stock operations, is ensuring adequate food supply to schools.
Mr Iddrisu disclosed that the government has allocated GH¢4 billion this year to support student feeding nationwide, describing the current management of the programme as more stable and efficient.
