The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially renamed its national headquarters in Adabraka, Accra, as the “Jerry Rawlings House” in honour of the party’s founder, the late Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings.
The renaming ceremony, held on June 22, 2026, coincided with what would have been Rawlings’ 79th birthday and marked another milestone in efforts to preserve his legacy within the party.
President John Dramani Mahama, accompanied by members of the party’s national leadership, party stalwarts, diplomats, and supporters, unveiled a commemorative bust of the former President at the headquarters as part of the event.
The initiative was undertaken in collaboration with the J.J. Rawlings Foundation and is aimed at immortalising the contributions of Rawlings, who founded the NDC in 1992 and played a pivotal role in shaping Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
Party leaders said the decision reflects the NDC’s commitment to preserving the values associated with Rawlings, including probity, accountability, and social justice, while strengthening the party’s ideological identity.
The ceremony attracted hundreds of party supporters and dignitaries who gathered to witness the official naming of the headquarters and celebrate the enduring legacy of the late statesman.
