National Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has warned that the party could take actions that would make the country “extremely ungovernable” if alleged harassment and intimidation of its members continue.

Speaking during a courtesy call by the NPP on the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Salam Mustapha accused the government of targeting members of the opposition party and cautioned that the NPP would not remain silent.

According to him, the party is prepared to mobilise its nationwide support base in response to what he described as political persecution, particularly over the detention of Bono Regional NPP Chairman, Kwame Baffoe.

He warned that the opposition would react strongly if the alleged intimidation persists, adding that the NPP could become more confrontational if its members continue to face pressure from authorities.

Salam Mustapha also stated that while the NPP remains ready to offer constructive criticism and support to the government from the opposition bench, it would resist any attempt to silence or intimidate party members.

His comments come after Abronye DC was remanded for two weeks over alleged offensive conduct likely to breach the peace and publication of false statements against a judge.
