President John Dramani Mahama has said Ghana’s economic recovery can only be sustained if it is accompanied by integrity, discipline, and strong moral values. Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on July 1, he stressed that lasting national development depends not only on economic reforms but also on a renewed commitment to ethical leadership and responsible citizenship.
Addressing the theme, “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want,” President Mahama said governments can implement policies but cannot legislate virtues such as honesty, accountability, and patriotism. He urged public officials to reject corruption, journalists to uphold truth, parents to instill discipline, and all citizens to contribute positively to national development through their daily actions.
The President noted that Ghana’s recent economic gains, achieved through disciplined fiscal management, must now be safeguarded by integrity, justice, and national unity. He concluded by calling on Ghanaians to make the values promoted during the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving a lasting commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
