The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has donated five oxygen concentrators, including a mobile unit, to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Tamale Teaching Hospital to improve life-saving care for premature and critically ill newborns. The equipment is expected to strengthen the hospital’s oxygen therapy capacity, with the mobile concentrator enhancing emergency response and the safe transfer of patients within the facility.
The Fund said the donation comes at a time of growing demand for neonatal critical care services, highlighting the importance of reliable oxygen support in improving survival rates among vulnerable infants. It also expressed gratitude to Rikair Company Limited for its support, describing the partnership as a significant contribution to improving healthcare delivery for newborns in northern Ghana. The donation forms part of the Fund’s broader initiative to collaborate with the private sector to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and expand access to quality medical care across the country.
