The Tema Regional Police Command has intercepted a tipper truck carrying 5,039 compressed parcels of suspected narcotic substances during an anti-drug operation at Afienya and arrested two suspects in connection with the haul. The suspects have since been remanded into custody as investigations continue.
Speaking at a press briefing, Tema Regional Police Commander DCOP Eric Asamoah Asiedu disclosed that one of the suspects allegedly offered officers GH¢150,000 in a bid to secure the release of the truck and its cargo. He commended the officers for rejecting the alleged bribe, describing their actions as a reflection of the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to professionalism and integrity. Police say investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals linked to the suspected drug trafficking operation.
