The High Court in Koforidua has dismissed an election petition challenging the election of Frank Asiedu Bekoe, popularly known as Protozoa, as Member of Parliament for the Suhum constituency.

The petition was filed by Kwadjo Asante, an independent candidate in the 2024 parliamentary elections, who sought to have the results annulled and a fresh poll conducted, citing alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

In its ruling, the court held that the petitioner failed to present sufficient evidence to substantiate the claims made in the petition. As a result, the court upheld the declaration of Mr. Asiedu Bekoe as the duly elected MP for Suhum.

The court also emphasized the need for credible and compelling evidence in election disputes, noting that while the law provides avenues to challenge election results, such challenges must be firmly supported by facts and the law.
