Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson, presented her Letters of Credence to King Charles III at St James’s Palace on Wednesday, 28th January 2026.

The diplomatic ceremony formalized the continuation of relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom.

Her Excellency Benson made history as Ghana’s first woman to serve as High Commissioner to the UK since independence in 1957. The appointment represents a significant advancement in Ghanaian diplomacy and gender representation in senior international positions.

The presentation ceremony also carried historical significance as the first time a Ghanaian High Commissioner has been received by the British monarch at St James’s Palace since 1910, when King Edward VII was on the throne. This reflects the long-standing ties between the two countries.
