The Ghanaian national football team, the Black Stars, have commenced training in Puebla, Mexico, ahead of an international friendly match against the FIFA World Cup co-hosts scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026.

The squad arrived in North America on Sunday to begin preparations for the fixture, which serves as a crucial build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted by Mexico, Canada, and the United States this June.

According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), training will continue through Wednesday and Thursday. Head Coach Carlos Queiroz and his technical staff are targeting a strong performance from the team, which comes just days before the official announcement of Ghana’s final World Cup roster.

The technical team will also use the friendly match to evaluate new talents who are currently vying for spots in both the senior national team, the Black Stars, and the under-23 side, the Black Meteors.
