Formally incorporated in 2013, the company produces natural food products under the Ava brand, with a focus on promoting healthy living and environmentally responsible farming practices.
At the core of GKV Foods’ operations is its flagship product, ava virgin coconut oil (VCO), which is extracted from matured coconuts sourced from a network of carefully selected farmers across Ghana’s Western and Central Regions. The company uses advanced cold-press extraction techniques and applies strict quality control systems to ensure the oil remains free from preservatives and additives, while preserving its natural nutrients and flavour for both local and international markets.

GKV Foods produces a range of ava coconut oil variants, including bottled and gallon-sized virgin coconut oil, to serve everyday cooking needs as well as health and wellness applications. In addition to its oil products, the company also produces ava Coconuttys snacks and cashew nuts.
A defining feature of the company’s operations is its commitment to environmental sustainability through a zero-waste production philosophy. Coconut shells generated during processing are converted into shell charcoal and activated carbon, while coconut fibres are used as bio-fuel to power processing kilns. This integrated approach ensures that raw materials are maximised at every stage of production and that waste is significantly reduced across the value chain.
The company also sources its raw materials responsibly through partnerships with out-grower farmers. These farmers receive support in the form of training, quality seedlings and market access, a model aimed at strengthening rural economies and promoting long-term agricultural sustainability.

Quality assurance remains central to the company’s operations. GKV Foods maintains an in-house laboratory managed by qualified food scientists and also conducts regular product testing in accredited laboratories abroad. The company aligns its operations with international food safety standards and holds certifications from major regulatory bodies.
Under the leadership of its Managing Director, Kojo Nunoo, GKV Foods has received national and industry recognition. In 2020, Mr Nunoo was honoured as the National Best Agro-Processor at Ghana’s National Farmers Day Celebrations in recognition of the company’s contribution to the agro-processing sector.

GKV Foods’ products are currently sold in supermarkets, pharmacies and retail outlets across Ghana, while the company continues to expand its international footprint. Its export markets include Canada, the United States and Nigeria.
